National Park Seminary is a residential redevelopment of a historic girls’ finishing school in Silver Spring, Maryland, an inside-the-beltway suburb of Washington, D.C. The adaptive use/new-construction project comprises a total of 218 residential units including a variety of homeownership options: 90 townhouses, 12 single-family homes, 50 condominium units, and 66 affordable rental units, as well as a transitional men’s shelter and restoration of a natural glen. Construction of the new townhomes helped finance the complex redevelopment of the historic buildings into what will be a fully updated residential community rewoven into the fabric of its neighborhood.
