Elements at Kowloon Station is an 82,750-square-meter (890,714-sf) retail complex at the heart of Union Square, the largest mixed-use development in Hong Kong. The high-end shopping center brings to the vast mini-city, built on reclaimed land, retail and nightlife opportunities for residents, businesspersons, and visitors. Situated near the southern coast of Kowloon, Elements at Kowloon was developed around two Mass Transit Railway (MTR) stations, providing vital links to Hong Kong and Lantau islands.
More than 30 years after it was originally built, the Landmark still stands out as a most prominent upscale retail center and office address in Hong Kong. The Landmark Scheme, a HK$1.64 billion (US$210 million) upgrade completed in November 2006, has reinforced the prominence of this commercial complex that occupies a one-hectare (2.5 ac) site in Hong Kong’s central business district (known as Central Hong Kong, or Central).
Originally envisaged as purely a conservation and ecological mitigation initiative, the concept of the Hong Kong Wetland Park was expanded to encompass a world-class tourist attraction as well as a major conservation, educational, and recreational resource. A substantial wetlands mitigation initiative has been combined with exhibition and educational facilities on the theme of sustainable development—and all of it within a context of best sustainable building practices.
